I hope you enjoyed exploring my personal favorite phrase in class this week via our intention “Commitment VS. Attachment,” and that you did so off the mat as well.
Coach Matt told me that he wrote his daily commitments down on a small piece of paper each morning, in order to work from a place of true commitment, rather than obligation or attachment, and that drastically changed what he accomplished last week.
I am fully committed to my streak of training daily in Zen57, no matter what. I have no idea how far it will go, or where it will take me. I am committed, but I am not attached to any particular outcome.
After 282 days of Zen57 in a row and counting, the effects have been immeasurable.
This week’s intention is: “Cause & Effect.”
You can choose to become the Cause of your life, instead of always being the Effect of someone or something else.
You can decide everything that you do. There are consequences to your choices, of course, but it is when you start becoming the Cause that you truly begin to gather internal power.
Starting your own streak – which you can begin with as little as 12 minutes per day – is the Cause.
It is the beginning. It is a choice, a decision you can make, all on your own. No one can stop you or get in your way (except for you).
You have 12 minutes. You can make 12 minutes. You can choose not to do something else; not to hit the snooze button; not to watch 1 extra episode on Netflix’ not to spend 12 minutes on social media.
All choices have consequences, including the choices we choose not to make. (Not choosing is a choice; a cause with a direct effect.)
